Entry locations:
Benton: Vestibule on the West side, closest to the playground
South: Enter the gate to the right of the front office entrance.
Carver: Vestibule on the North side of the building
High School: Enter the double doors closest to the Welcome Center Doors
Goodman: Enter the gym doors on the front of the building
During School Hours
Students will move to the safe room to seek shelter according to posted routes. Residents that are at risk will be allowed in the safe room During a tornado warning, FEMA doors will be closed once all students are in the shelter.
Non-School Hours
Safe rooms will be unlocked when the National Weather Service issues a tornado watch and residents are welcome to enter. The safe room will remain open until the National Weather Service cancels a tornado watch or tornado warning or they expire.

- Doors will unlock when the National Weather Service issues a tornado watch for Newton County, (McDonald County) for Goodman location.
- Lights indicated entrances to the safe rooms.
- FEMA safe rooms serve the Neosho School District students, team and nearby community.
- FEMA safe rooms are under 24-hour surveillance.
- Needs forms are available for individuals with special needs who plan to attend safe rooms during emergencies.
- Leashed service animals are permitted with all animal care and actions under the responsibility of the owner.
- As human safety is top priority, household pets are not permitted.
- Safe rooms are equipped with an emergency generator for limited electrical services.

Please consider that you may not have time to reach a storm shelter, therefore, it is recommended to have a backup plan. We encourage all to have a weather radio and emergency plan in place for any weather event. Information to assist with emergency planning can be found at Ready.gov.
